The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday that it is mourning the loss of one of its deputies following the death of Cpl. Chandler Clayton.
In a statement shared on the agency’s Facebook page, officials said Clayton died Saturday afternoon due to complications from an unknown illness. Authorities did not release additional medical details but confirmed that his passing has deeply affected members of the department and the broader community he served.
“Corporal Clayton, a young man who was dedicated to serving his community, had a promising future ahead of him,” the sheriff’s office said in part of its statement. The agency added that it is sending love, support and its deepest condolences to Clayton’s family during this difficult time.
Clayton served with the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office, where colleagues described him as a committed officer who took pride in protecting and assisting residents throughout the county. Fellow deputies and community members have begun sharing tributes online, remembering him for both his professionalism and the positive attitude he brought to his work.
