Trevor Weigel Churchville, PA Obituary – Cause of Death: How did Jaden Battista killer die; Lower Makefield Township, Bucks County murder

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. — A Churchville man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being sentenced in connection with the brutal 2024 killing of 19-year-old Jaden Battista in Lower Makefield Township.

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday that 25-year-old Trevor Christopher Weigel received a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, along with an additional five to 20 years, for the fatal stabbing death of Battista.

The deadly incident occurred on the afternoon of Feb. 16, 2024, at a residence along Waterford Road in Lower Makefield Township. According to investigators, responding officers arrived at the scene and witnessed Weigel actively chasing Battista before repeatedly stabbing her.

Authorities said Weigel fled when police attempted to intervene. During the pursuit, he reportedly climbed over a fence and stabbed himself in the neck multiple times before officers were able to subdue him using a Taser. He was later taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Battista, who suffered multiple stab wounds during the attack, was rushed to the hospital but later died from her injuries.

Investigators revealed that Battista and Weigel had previously been involved in a brief relationship that ended approximately two months before the fatal attack.

The sentencing hearing included emotional testimony from Battista’s family members and loved ones, who described the devastating impact her death has had on their lives.

“Jaden was a gentle soul in a world that was far too cruel to her,” Battista’s mother said in a statement read before the court. “She didn’t deserve this — no one does — but especially not someone who brought so much kindness, love, and light into the world.”

The tragic case drew widespread attention throughout Bucks County and surrounding communities, with many continuing to mourn the loss of the young woman whose life was cut short by an act of violence.

Officials said the life sentence ensures Weigel will remain incarcerated for the remainder of his life without the possibility of parole.
