Pennsbury High School Lockdown Today: Further details released after Monday swatting threat

Pennsbury High School will transition to an asynchronous virtual instruction day after the school was placed on a secure hold following a threat Monday morning, according to an announcement from the school district.

Secure holds are used when a threat has been detected outside of the school compared to a lockdown which is instituted in response to an immediate internal threat.

The district received a call shortly before 8 a.m. from a California number who said they were on their way to Pennsbury East High School in Falls with an assault rifle and a pipe bomb, according to the district.

“We understand that multiple high schools in the county received similar calls, and we believe this is a hoax or a swatting incident. However, the police will conduct a full search of the campus prior to students returning,” the district said.

As a result, high school students will transition to virtual instruction Monday.

PHS students who were bused to Charles Boehm Middle School during the secure hold will be transported home starting at 9:30 a.m., according to an update from the school district.

Parent pickup or PHS students at the middle school will be at the bus dock/gym lobby.

Pickup for PHS students who were brought into the high school will take place on the gymnasium side and at Keller Hall West at Pennsbury East.
